13th Ward Alderman in Rockford, IL.

Rockford, October 7, 2024 – Tamir Bell, a dedicated community advocate and the area's first Gen Z Precinct Committeeman, has officially announced his candidacy for 13th Ward Alderman. Bell’s decision to run is driven simply by his commitment to addressing opportunities on Rockford’s West Side, ensuring stronger neighborhoods, and creating a brighter future for all residents.

"The 13th Ward needs a leader with vision, passion, and the ability to connect and deliver results," Bell said. "As a resident and community advocate, I understand the challenges we face. My goal is to ensure that the 13th Ward capitalizes on the awesome opportunities to truly reach our potential by revitalizing our neighborhoods so that the quality of life for our residents is improved."

A History of Service and Dedication

Tamir Bell’s passion for public service began with grassroots organizing, connecting communities with the resources needed to foster growth. His work with businesses, community organizations, and local government has consistently focused on finding innovative solutions to the challenges facing Rockford’s residents. As the first Gen Z Precinct Committeeman, Bell has proven his dedication to the community and his ability to lead effectively.

Bell's leadership experience extends across numerous local organizations, demonstrating his deep commitment to public service. As Chair of the Jackson Charter School Board, Bell has worked tirelessly to strengthen educational opportunities for local youth and families. In his role as a member of the Board of Directors for the YMCA of Rock River Valley, he has focused on promoting health and well-being for all residents. Additionally, Bell serves as Political Director to State Representative Maurice West (IL–67th District), playing a vital role in advancing policies that benefit the Rockford region and beyond.

"I am running for Alderman because, like me, so many people believe in the potential of the West Side," Bell emphasized.

"Together, we can create a future where everyone has the opportunity to love their community and thrive in it. This campaign is about unifying our 13th Ward, bringing residents to the table, and providing a platform for people to build a brighter future for everyone who calls Rockford home.

He advocates for a block-by-block approach to revitalization, encouraging residents to come together to build neighborhoods they can be proud of by being engaged in the revitalization process.
